Accomplishments: Ran on 4x100 team that was 3rd in SWC and 8th in Class MM in 2000, posted team-best 45.6 this season; ran on 4x800 team in 1999 that nearly broke school record with 9:06. SWC qualifier in hurdles and 100m in 2000.
Bottom line: Was injured for most of the season, yet was still able to run 4x400 several times to help the team; quiet leadership and experience was a key to keeping the team focused on its goals throughout the year.

Quintin Ross: 2001
Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x1004x400, triple jump
Accomplishments: Was the team's best 200m runner (23.5), and placed 5th in the SWC. Also was the key to the 4x100 team, and for the 100m (7th in Class MM). Ran 4x400 in SWCs and states, and consistently scored points in the triple jump during the season. State qualifier in 200m (2001)
Bottom line: To come in as a first year track athlete and be successful is something; to come in and be a captain and a leader is special, and that's exactly what he did this season.

Joe Tanucci: 2000-2001
Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100, 4x400, javelin, long jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put

One of the greatest track and field athletes to ever come through Stratford High School. A two-year SWC champion in the javelin, he was Class MM champion (171'6"), 5th in State Open (172'10"), 16th in New Englands (165'11") and 14th (173'6") at nationals. He also broke the school record in pole vault with an 11'6" jump, finishing 6th at SWCs and Class MM. His other state qualifying events included: 200m, 400m (2nd in SWC), long jump (4th in SWC), high jump, and was on the 4x100 and 4x400 teams that posted the best SHS times this year. At the O'Grady Relays, part of relays that won high jump and finished 2nd in javelin (177'10"),
He capped off his Connecticut career by finishing 2nd in the decathlon with 5545 points and becoming All-State for the third time this school year.
Bottom line: Tanucci was the epitome of leadership by example and put the team on his back this season.

Robbie Wauthier: 2000-2001
Events: High jump, triple jumplong jump110m hurdles4x100, 4x400
Accomplishments: 2nd Team SWC (triple jump, 2001, 110m hurdles, 2001), 5th at SWCs (high jump, 2001), 4th in SWCs (triple jump, 2000) O'Gradys Relays champion (high jump, 2001), state qualfier in triple jump (2000-01), high jump (2000-01), long jump (2000), and 110 hurdles (2001)
A clear-cut leader on this year's team, as he often led the team during warmups, organized the purchase of team t-shirts and was also dominant in his events. Competing in all three jumping events, he was constantly one of the leading point-getters on the team. Picked up the 110m hurdles early in the season and became an elite hurdler despite hating the event.
Bottom line: The leader of this team, in both words and actions. It was a team effort, but it's spokesman was Robbie.
