1999-2000 Season in Review.
The fifth season for indoor track brought its ups and downs. On the plus side was a hard working team that graduated only 4 seniors from the boys' team and none from the girls. The limiting factor was lack of numbers. Despite this, the team enjoyed some successes.
For the boys, newcomer Corey Jackson set the 50m and 55m dash records, and he and Harry Bridgeforth formed a 1-2 combo few could beat. Bridgeforth also was the #2 hurdler in the SWC and brought home a team high 3 medals at SWCs. The team was also strong in the jumps and relays with Joe Tanucci and Robbie Wauthier. Distance was led by James daSilva, who came in 6th at SWCs in a strong 3200 field and set 3 team records. The shot put was the powerhouse of the team however. Eric Loux was SWC champion, followed by Brad Boyle in 4th and Tim Jacques in 6th..
For the girls, Sarah Beachemin was again the leading force for the team in distance and the high jump, while a strong group of hurdlers and sprinters included Nikki Ferris, Lissette Cruz, and Julie Saad. Strong newcomers included Sara Leventhal and Cassandra Calixte, who qualified for states in the shot put.
--Eric Loux qualifies for Yale Invitational, wins SWCs in shot put.
--SHS boys finish with 47 points at SWCs
--Sprint medley relay and Cassandra Calixte in shot put score for girls at SWCs, who were missing Nikki Ferris and Sarah Beauchemin, among others due to sickness and a field trip.
--The team qualifies 10 members for Class S states.
--Eric Loux and Jim Ianucci were captains for the boys team, and Nikki Ferris and Sarah Beauchemin were girls captains.
