The SHS boys' track team has been a symbol of success for decades. Sadly, I have so far been unable to uncover much of that past. The records of the great athletes of the past are in the link above. The last five years (1999-2003) are fairly well-documented. Before that there are only glimpses. (Anyone who has info that would help this site in that regard can email jdasilva@loyola.edu)
The most successful team here at Stratford High School was the 1995 edition. They won the last CCIAC title and the Class M State title despite only winning one event, the high jump. That team was coached by Mr. Dirk Rozarie, who coached through the 1999 season.
The team currently practices at Bunnell High School in northern Stratford. The head coach is Mr. Mike Sirowich, who will be entering his 5th season, having captured a SWC title in 2001. The team co-hosted the SWC Championships in 2000 with Bunnell. Besides meets within the conference, the team generally participates in the O'Grady Relays, as well as out-of-conference meets with teams such as Morgan, Derby, Trumbull, and Fairfield Prep.
