The 2000 season was a learning experience for the Red Devils. With only 18 members, winning meets proved difficult and frustratingly just out of reach. Despite several injuries, lack of personnel, and lack of a track for the first two weeks of practice, the Red Devils still had success. They were in the hunt for the division title until the very last meet despite a 4-13-1 record, came in 4th place at SWCs with only 7 members competing, and sent 3 of those to State Opens. At the O'Grady Relays, the team finished 2nd in javelin, led by Joe Tanucci, Eric Loux and Tim Jacques.
The team, coached by Mr. Mike Sirowich and Ms. Geralyn Sculli, was led by three seniors; Eric Loux, Joe McDowell and Warren Ross. Loux was the mentor for the weight men and captured the State Open hammer throw title. McDowell led the team in several sprint categories before a hamstring injury slowed him late in the season. Ross was the dominating presence in hurdles, winning a silver and bronze in SWCs, and in State Open was the 10th best 300m hurdler.
Beyond those three, the Class of 2001 showed promise, as Joe Tanucci, Rob Wauthier, Harry Bridgeforth, and James daSilva consistently gained points in several events for the team. All were state qualifiers, and daSilva and Tanucci made State Open.
Other members who were key members of the team were Dave Harvey in hurdles, Tom Dillon in the 200 and 400, Matt Fratancangeli and Eugene Chest in pole vault, Tim Jaques in all three weight events and Trevor Loynd in distance. The 4x800 team was made up of Loynd, Pat Noonan, Colin Sheldon, and Jeremiah Rozarie, all freshman or sophomores.
